Autism in Females

Until recently autism was a condition assumed to predominantly affect males. However new research into how gender affects autism suggests that autism in females has been significantly under-diagnosed due to them presenting autistic characteristics differently to males. Females are thought to be better at 'masking' the characteristics of autism in order to fit in with their peers, therefore making autism harder to detect.

Russian dolls have been used as the aesthetic for the campaign as they are traditionally female, they also appear to be hiding within one another, representing how some autistic females attempt to conceal their behaviour and autistic traits by hiding in plain sight. each doll has been hand painted by myself and depicts a characteristic of autism.
